I am grateful for many things in my life…few more so than my design education and degree in Architecture from Auburn University.
Architecture is one of the best educations you can get. For me in particular, it built a mental trellis for my creative chaos to flourish and a framework for my ideas to come to fruition. It taught me abstract and conceptual thought and problem solving.
And, I’m pretty good at it.
The profession, though, is a hard one. It is demanding with long hours, low pay and much of the time, utterly thankless. Not to mention its high economic volatility. In any economic downturn, it is one of the first professions to suffer dramatically and close to the last to recover. The profession is not for the faint of heart to say the least.
But, even still, I wouldn’t change a thing. I love design and Architecture. And I am excited to finally have a digital home of my own to share my work with the world.
These drawings and renderings are from my Thesis project. Although I am many years and many projects further down the road, I still love this design and these drawings. To this day they still ring true to me as an authentic expression of my design aesthetic and style. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate beginning for my first “Design” post.
So stay tuned, for there is much more to come…
